Plan for Humanity

abracad, · Categories: externally authored, spirituality

By Dr. Stewart Bitkoff

While some look at this world and see chaos and destruction, others see optimism and growth. Yes both are present; and beyond these opposites, what is actually occurring?

According to Tradition humanity is evolving to a higher state; this is over millennia- and if you wonder at your role in all of this check out my new book and the short piece below.

*     *

One traveler at a time, humanity is evolving to a higher state of consciousness. This evolution is both individual and collective. As a race of people we are reaching Higher. This evolution is purposeful and directed so it may be attained.

To help safeguard this Plan there is a hierarchy of servants who work on many levels. Collectively humanity has a potential and destiny. Many of the holy books speak about this potential. These references are part allegorical and part literal. (more…)

Is Spiritualism Real?

Readings Received at 2 local Spiritualist Churches: January 2013 - April 2015

Background

I attended regularly (more or less weekly, with some gaps) one of two local Spiritualist churches for some years to mid-2015 (when I stopped attending for various reasons). This article summarises and attempts to assess for accuracy and meaning this briefest snapshot of Spiritualist practice.

Scores

In order to obtain an “objective” score, each testable statement made by the medium was given an estimated probability (and hence odds) of being correct given information available to medium (eg my appearance, previous answers in reading, potential memory of previous readings etc). Statements were treated as unit stake “bets” at assessed odds. NB: i) where statement was true but in very broad sense (eg name was someone I knew casually many years ago) bet was calculated at less than unit stake; ii) estimated odds  may unconsciously reflect my desire for Spiritualism to be real. Score is total return/loss of all bets for a reading. (more…)

Spiritualist Beliefs

abracad, · Categories: spiritualism

In the early days of Spiritualism in the 19th century the medium Emma Hardinge Britten channelled what came to be accepted as the Seven Principles of Spiritualism.

This article details the key philosophical beliefs that appear fundamental to Spiritualism in the early 21st century. (more…)

Controlling Our Thoughts & Feelings

abracad, · Categories: externally authored, spirituality

By Dr. Stewart Bitkoff

“I saw my lower self in the form of a rat. I asked, “Who are you?”  It replied, “I am the destruction of the heedless, for I incite them to wickedness. I am the salvation of the friends-of-God, for if it were not for me, they would be proud of their purity and their actions. When they see me in themselves, all their pride disappears.”*
-Hujwiri

Introduction

Thoughts are energy and man/woman is fundamentally a being of conscious energy; creating his/her own body, events and thoughts, moment to moment.

For most spiritual travelers this essential aspect of who they are is left out of their early education; and this ability to master thoughts operates like a magic wand. It is said, he who controls his own thoughts is master of both the upper and lower kingdom; this being the dual aspects of our soul- where both baseness and sublimity exist.

Now when groups of people think the same thought and work together to manifest a potential, the power of thought forms is magnified, and often the miraculous occurs. Consider the power potential of a group of people praying and projecting their thoughts across the planet; this eventuality has been proven by numerous scientific studies concerning distant healing. Also consider the potential effect of a nation of like-minded citizens who joined together with singleness of purpose; we in America saw this with our own Revolution and more recently the world has awakened to groups of terrorists pushing their brand of fear and fanaticism.

In the following, we will examine from a spiritual perspective, the importance of controlling/mastering our thoughts, why we seemingly cannot control certain thoughts/feelings, how students in spiritual schools are taught to handle this situation, and finally offer selected techniques to monitor and control our thoughts. The Higher Service

abracad, · Categories: externally authored, spirituality

By Dr. Stewart Bitkoff

Duty is a task that you must accomplish; it is a requirement of the situation and something which many people can do.  For example if you are a baker you must come to work on time, complete your work and act responsibly to customers and co-workers.  These are some of the general duties of a baker.

If these duties were to be totaled, they would constitute your overall service as a baker. Service can be described as the compilation, total or outcome of a variety of duties and usually described in relation to other people. Therefore you bake bread for others.

Service on another level relates to duties which are communicated and carried out on a spiritual plane. When one is in service to God/Light personal will is stilled and the servant acts in accord with the Master’s Desire.

Here the servant and Master are one and the duties which are performed constitute the higher service. (more…)

Will the Real God Please Reveal Himself? Herself? Itself?

As a child brought up in a Christian home where prayer was an ongoing conversation with a loving and personal God, and regular church attendance included a variety of sects—from conservative Baptist to more liberal Methodist services, from simple Mormon meetings to ornate Catholic masses—I have always understood God to have many faces and facets. Not only was God present in various Christian-oriented churches, I experienced His presence in the Native American ceremonies in which I took part. (I grew up on four different Native American reservations in Arizona and returned to the San Carlos Apache Reservation to live and teach for many years after graduating from college.) I knew God was present with me, and within me, at all times, whether I was surrounded by loving family and friends or roaming the desert mesas in solitude, seeing divine pattern in the natural world that seemed so much a part of me. I communed with God who I experienced as my First Father, and I saw a reflection of my First Father in my biological human father who also walked with God and practiced what he felt was Godly living. Religious Form: Internal & External Reality

abracad, · Categories: externally authored, religion

By Dr. Stewart Bitkoff

Let your heart be in such a state that the existence or nonexistence of anything is the same. Then sit alone in a quiet place, free of any preoccupation, even the reciting of the Koran or thinking about its meaning. Let nothing besides God enter you. Once you are seated in this manner, say, “Allah, Allah,” keeping your thought on these words.

Traveler:  Speak to me of the great religions, and why each states their Path is the only Way.  In the past religious difference has led to wars, killing and fighting.  Why is this?

Master: On an inner level your religion is One Religion. Each religion is an aspect of the Divine. Just as clear light filters through a prism, changing, twisting to fit the demands of time and space; the colors of the prism are beautiful and varied; yet on inner level the light is without color. Is The Qur’an Anti-Judaism?

abracad, · Categories: externally authored, religion

Rabbi Allen S Maller

The Qur’an is the only book of revelation that includes within itself a theory of prophethood which includes other religions. There have always been (since the days of Adam) people inspired by Allah who urged their society to avoid destruction by turning away from its corrupt and unjust ways and turning to the One God who created all humans. The Qur’an mentions 25 prophets by name (most of them known to non-Muslims too) and Muslims believe there were one hundred twenty four thousand others, whose names are now unknown.

Of the 25 mentioned by name in the Qur’an only five revealed books of sacred scripture, and only Moses, David, Jesus and Muhammad revealed books of sacred scripture that are the bases for three religions that still flourish today. (more…)

Reincarnation: an Introduction

abracad, · Categories: externally authored, reincarnation

By Dr. Stewart Bitkoff

Q: What would you like to say about reincarnation?  Is this something from your framework that you accept or believe?

Once again, it does not matter what a traveler believes; the operative aspect is if this is a reality or potential of the situation?

Because much has been written about reincarnation and much has been proliferated as a control mechanism, we will discuss those issues most pertinent to our present western life.

However before beginning, it is important to keep in mind that in some societies this teaching was used and is used as a method to control a population by declaring something like. “Travelers must be content with their present status because it is what they earned; in future lives they have unlimited potential and can gain in material benefits.”  (more…)
