Spiritual University: Individual Learning Sequence

abracad, · Categories: externally authored, spirituality

By Dr. Stewart Bitkoff

Each traveler is a unique being and as such has an individual learning sequence.  All travelers are on the path to completion.  This is the Divine Command and the mission for which each soul was created and sent out into the universe.  Each soul is to travel and return more complete so they can reign in Kingship.  The universe governed is oneself and when one has become master of self- other responsibilities are added.

Before encountering a teacher, each traveler must undergo preparation. Often this   involves searching within them self and the world.  Looking for an answer to the burning question within: the traveler is not satisfied with what has been encountered.  Still there remains a yearning, an inner emptiness which is pushing the traveler toward the Source. This burning must be relatively free of self-interest and what will be gained from the search.  The Teaching will not enter a house that is filled with self. (more…)

Life & Video Games

By Dr. Stewart Bitkoff

When the end is in sight, many things go through your mind. Experiences, friends, successes, and failures fill the consciousness. Yet, the heart smiles at all of this; for you see, it knows the Goal and has been through this journey before.

The Great Wheel of Life keeps turning so we can experience ourselves and the Infinite in many different ways.  Like a video game, with level upon level, until we save the Princess- who is our selves. What people forget is that this journey or game can be accomplished in a second, 1000 years, or over and over again. Or we can play a totally different game and have an alternate experience, altogether. (more…)

Illusion and Reality

abracad, · Categories: spirituality

Is all that we see or seem but a dream within a dream? Edgar Allan Poe.

We each carry inside us a model of what we consider to be reality or truth. However, our concept of reality is inevitably incomplete, for reality in its entirety is too great and too complex to be understood by our finite minds. This incapacity to fully grasp reality is echoed in the scientific principle of quantum indeterminacy.

Everybody's concept of reality is unique. Each version represents a different subset of the single, whole, truth; but also incorporates different illusions into its representation of what is real. (more…)

Which is the Correct Religion?

abracad, · Categories: externally authored, religion, spirituality

By Dr. Stewart Bitkoff

Q:   In our tradition, we are taught those who do not believe the same as us are incorrect, and unless they change shall be punished by God.  Also, as responsible believers, we have a duty to try and correct their view?

A:    Does the Father love only some of his children?  Are not all children of God?

Before there was organized religion, how did travelers worship?  Were these millions all in error and abandoned by their Father?

To every place and time is a path or religion.  Look to a traveler's heart and their action; a good, loving person, who makes the world a better place, is a servant of God and has a religion to follow.  Let God evaluate the measure of their lives; God’s mercy is without end. (more…)

Jewels of Wisdom: an awakened spirituality for our children

abracad, · Categories: externally authored, spirituality

by Shelley Anne Lewis

One way of living in sync with the natural ebb and flow of life is to consciously work towards improving the nature of our minds. The stories we repeat to ourselves create the framework we live in and gel our experiences together in a way that gives us a sense of who we are in the world. Making efforts through mind training to focus on altruistic behaviors can have resoundingly positive results. In the 12th century the Buddhist master Geshe Langri Thangpa recited eight teachings that became known as the eight verse mind training, these verses have been a beloved guide for students and practitioners ever since seeking to lead a more compassionate and heart centered existence, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama who recites the teachings daily and claims they form an integral part of his practice. Patience - a by-product of difficulties

abracad, · Categories: externally authored, self help, spirituality

By Lt Col R K Langar

Patience is a great asset of man in life, more so when one is treading on the spiritual path. Patience is not taught but it is learned when we meet some obstacles or difficulties in life. Patience tells you not to be in a hurry because when you hurry it gives the impression that you are not in control of the situation. On the other hand if you stay calm and face the situation patiently you get time to think of some means to cross the obstacle rather than to react impatiently. Patience is needed everywhere in life, whether you seek to be one with God, whether you wish to destroy your bad habits or whether you wish to plant noble thoughts within you. (more…)

Just Think Happy Thoughts!

abracad, · Categories: externally authored, spirituality

by Bob Makransky

Whenever I hear some spiritual guru proclaim that all you gotta do is "just think happy thoughts!", it makes me want to pop him one upside the head and see how long he can keep on thinking his "happy thoughts."

Take as an example Miguel Ruiz’s bestselling Four Agreements, which exhorts readers to “Be impeccable with your word; don’t take anything personally; don’t make assumptions; always do your best.” The degree of profundity or usefulness of this advice is beside the point; it does a disservice to the reader. No effort was made to explain why it’s impossible to be impeccable with your word (in a society based upon lying to other people and yourself); not to take things personally (when all your social training is pointed at inflating your self-importance); not to make assumptions (in a society which discourages thinking for yourself, or thinking at all); or why it’s impossible to do your best (in a society which teaches you to cringe helplessly and wallow in self-pity). Is the World a Stage Drama

abracad, · Categories: externally authored, karma, spirituality

By Lt Col R K Langar

One way of describing our life on earth is that the world is a drama stage where we all play our pre-determined part. The roles given to all drama players are pre-scripted.  When our part in the drama is over, we leave the stage or in other words we leave the world when our life span is over. Like an artist on the drama stage, we cannot change the script relating to our part in the world and play the part all allotted to us. As there are good artists and bad artists on the drama stage, similarly in life there are good people and bad people. We have to play our part under direct supervision of the director of the drama which in real life world mean as desired by God Almighty. This view on life means that we come to the world with a predetermined destiny or fate based on our actions of past lives as per the Karma theory or theory of reincarnation. This also means that whatever good or bad we do in this life does not have any affect in our present life as the part we have to play on the world stage is already predetermined. This view on life means that we have no free will and at the same time our fate is not negotiable in our present life. There is also a big difference between the stage artist and world stage drama artist in that the stage artist is given the entire script of the drama and he knows his part till the end. This does not happen to man in human life playing his part on world stage since he does not know what is stored for him in future in his life. (more…)
