Broken glass & spirits?

I’m curious about whether there is any symbolic meaning to the occasional sound of broken glass (with no apparent origin or cause) in a home. It’s a very distinctive noise, and repeated searches of the house have yielded no source. It sounded as if a lamp had been shattered, or perhaps a drinking glass had been dropped. It’s a small house and I’ve gone through it thoroughly trying to find the cause.

In furtherance of the broken glass theme … glass occurs in odd places on the property without explanation as well. The barn, for example, is so well bedded you couldn’t break a glass there if you tried, but recently I found a completely clean piece of heavy, thick, clear glass (like windshield glass). This is the desert — dust is ubiquitous — but there, in the barn breezeway — was a clean piece of glass.

    It was noon time with my dog and son in the house. My son was in his bedroom and I was in the bathroom cleaning as I heard a loud shattered glass. I immediately thought my dog knocked down one of my gallon glass jugs but when I looked in the kitchen there was no broken glass. I even checked all the cabinets but nothing was misplaced and/or broken. I looked all around the house and outside and no broken glass. Also, my son heard the shattered glass noise too.

    It made me think about a family portrait I placed in a glass frame on the wall thinking maybe it fell but the glass frame was still in place on the wall. Then I thought twice, well the family portrait has two deceased family members that perhaps they are letting me know something but what is the message?

    Wow. I know this is an old posting, but I sometimes remember an event from my childhood and I just wanted to see if anyone else had ever experienced this. I’ve been searching online and evidently I am NOT alone in this.

    When I was around 8 years old, my family moved into our newly built home in the country. Nearest neighbour was about 1/2 mile away. Dirt road, no traffic, no lights.

    I was lying in bed, when I suddenly heard the sound of glass shattering. We had a milk cow, so we always had lots of empty glass gallon jars around. The bathroom was almost completely tiled, so it kind of echoed. I immediately thought that one of those jars had been dropped in that bathroom.

    As I stepped into the hallway, I met my mother coming from their bedroom on the other end of the house. She asked me what I had broken. When I told her that I heard it too, we began searching but never found anything.

    Sometimes I remember that now and I still wonder.

    Several family members also saw lights, but that’s another story.

      Tammy this just happened to me today. I am in my house and I hear something outside fall & the sound of breaking glass. I found nothing. Lots of other strange things happening lately.
      From what I can find out about this it’s seems to be paranormal, spirits letting you know they are there. On Saturday I saw a cardinal & 3 eagles flying above me on a piece of property hubby & I own. We were doing more clearing of brush there because it’s our dream to build a house there & retire. We were standing there talking & questioning if our dream would really come true due to the current condition of the country…and then we looked up.

    My wife heard a glass shattered in the office but she didn’t pay attention until it happened again when we were both in the office and I saw it myself the unused glass candle holder broken what does it means spiritually?

      In a locked small building a loud glass was broken a few meters next to us. I was with a colleague I shouted go out and leave otherwise I would call the police. no one. After a while he threw a 30cm dexion iron at us. The police came twice with 8 men but there was no one.The police officers made their cross.

    It is Christmas night, I live in a studio apartment with my wife and my 3 year old kid,
    Everyone was sleeping, I went to the kitchen to wrap a gift for my child to surprise him in morning. As soon as I opened the kitchen door, I heard a cracking sound if the glass, I thought I strached my packet with something, then again I heard a cracking sound, to my surprise I found a glass mug just cracked in front of my eyes.

    I was very shockes seeing this.

    Any explanation please suggest.

    I was at a restaurant with my husband and we heard a crack and his glass had cracked and fell over. It was a large water goblet with a long stem and it cracked at the bottom of the base. The base broke into two pieces and that’s why the glass fell over. The interesting thing is that he was not touching it when it had cracked. It seemed to break for no apparent reason. If i hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, i wouldn’t believe it.

      Over the house and nothing is broken. What does it mean ?

    This is scaring me at first tonight I woke up everyone woke up to glass sharing it was like a big bang. Then all of a sudden we all got up and kept looking around my mom walked past the bathroom door twice and saw nothing. Everything was settled me thinking it was a babies toy that fell to the floor so when everyone went to go back to bed I come into the same bathroom that my mom checked and what do you know the glass is broken. I’m like I found what it was. Now thinking it was a bullet hole we checked and it wasnt due the the fact that the glass was coming out towards us and the facts that it looked like a bullet hole and wasnt. So we tired to figure it all out and came to the conclusion that it was a spiritual thing. I still have doubts and it may just have gave out but from the looks of it the mirror looks well like somthing straight out of a horror film. I know this comment may be late or over looked but please someone explain this I have pictures.

    My 5 year old daughter were downstairs hanging out just 2 days ago, on Thanksgiving. My husband was resting upstairs. We heard a loud crash, sounded like a lightbulb burst around the corner in the hallway of our main level. I thought nothing of it, except that were were both barefoot so I told her to stay put while I turned the corner to figure out when fell over, or what broke. There was nothing. Nothing broken not inside, outside or anywhere in the house or freezer for that matter. We still have no idea what it was, but it certainly was glass breaking on the tile. We have a single family home and no neighbors close at all.
    Anyone have insight here?

    I have been trying to figure out what it was I saw when I was having a heart attack and respitory failure….I saw this square that covered my chest area. That looked like a cracked mirror only wasn’t reflective like a mirror…it was more like smoke with cracks in it. It is so very hard to describe.

      That is the light of Soul Life Angel descending from above heaven reaching your chest trying to save you from death because you prayed, God accepted and Angel came to its service commandrd by God. My mother had the same experience when she prayed for her baby my youngest brother to start moving in her womb again because she knew it had died, and then when she saw the light in a shape of a cube or square over her womb area.

    Old thread but wanted to leave my comment. I have dealt with unexplainable things all my life the older and closer to God I get the less I experience, however occasionally we get some jinns bothering us and last night was no exception. I awoke to get my baby settled, I took her some milk and used the bathroom returning to my bedroom I looked at my cell phone it was 2:48 am and suddenly I heard glass shatter! My first thought was a robber entering, I woke my husband in a panic and he rushed downstairs where the sound came from but nothing! Nothing broken, we searched high and low!! 2 days before this I had bought my 14 month old new shoes and brought them home, put them away and the next day they were missing, I had already felt this was strange as I reached the entire house even dug in the trash thinking I tossed em by mistake. My 5 year old said mom the shaytan took them (jinn) I just laughed and said no, but after the glass noise and shoes I’m weary.

    Two nights ago I’m trying to sleep and I hear glass breaking downstairs. I jump out of bed and run downstairs…nothing. Could not find any broken glass anywhere. Everyone in the house heard it and thought someone was trying to break in the house. The next morning I find a small piece of broken mirror in my bathtub. And the black hand mirror I keep in my bathroom is missing. ¿What does this mean?

    I was taking a nap and dreamed that I saw a little girl throw a rock through an upstairs window and break the window. At the same time the rock hit the window I heard the glass break. I can’t understand why I heard this sound in a dream without anything making the noise in my surroundings.

    5 years ago while I was taking care of my mother, I was awoken by the sound of a glass shattering. The 1st thought was that dang cat knocked a glass of the cabinet, but as I laid there I thought I had better check on my mother.
    When I went into her room she was laying on the floor and had suffered a stroke. She passed away later that night.
    I knew without a doubt that when I cleaned her room that there would be broken glass found, and to my shock there was no glass!
    Whatever woke me up that night I will be eternally grateful for because otherwise my mom probably would have died alone on the floor.
    Earlier that same day, she kept asking what my cousin was doing over there (as she pointed at the wall), he had passed away about 2 years before. I always wondered if he didn’t come help her transition over.

    Mine deal is thos is the 2nd broken windsheild in 2 weeks time! And also within that same period my cell phone gets dropped and the screen cracks. What is with all this?

    (EVERYONE PLEASE READ) Recently i was watching my 6 year old brother while my parents were out shopping , all of the sudden i hear a very loud sound of glass breaking downstairs i run downstairs while my brother is running to me and he says “i just heard glass break” so me and him both run around our entire small house and nothing. Not one sign of glass anywhere. we even checked in closets and the fridge !! I waited till my parents got home. I told my mom about it and she said that is very strange. About ten minutes later i come downstairs to actual glass shattered everywhere. My mother has dropped a glass frame all by accident. It was the weirdest coincidence ever. I don’t feel alone now , i can’t even be in my room by myself without feeling eyes are on me , and i’m being watched.

      One idea is that breaking glass symbolizes the veil to the spiritual world is breaking. As a child, I always, yes always felt like I had eyes on me. Now I’m realizing it’s my angels, guides, teachers, helpers, ancestors or whatever you want to call my entourage on the other side of the veil, letting me knows they are here to help me and are lining up things on the other side so I can breathe easier on this side. Enjoy your new awareness.

        I believe that you are right, I was at a rehab,detox. I was put in a private room, the first night in there I heard glass smashing, it was very loud. The next day I asked what window was smashed, they told me there was no glass broken anywhere. The next night I heard an old time phone ringing ,it woke me up I went back to sleep and it happened again and woke me up for the second time. I should add that there were no phones allowed on the floor that I was on.The next night my bed which weighed about 300pounds, a hugh hospital bed it was, moved about a foot or two with me in it. A few nights later faces of demons scrolled across the wall in front of me. People will say that I was hallucinating from detoxing, but no because they were bring my dose down very slowly, I still wasn’t dope sick. A lot more things happened to me there, so I do believe that the sound of glass breaking was the spiritual world opening up!

        I agree with this. I was lucid dreaming (deliberately) and playing my dead friend’s guitar and a string came loose. As I was fixing it, I could hear men talking outside my door as if they were trying to break in. I was also experiencing sleep paralysis and was trying to scream out to my partner to close the windows and hold the door shut then the weirdest thing.. silence, glass smashing and the sound of a dog walking in my hallway and then I woke up

    I really need someones opinion on whats happening in my house. Last week i found a shattered piece of glass in the the middle of my bedroom I looked everywher and nothing was broken or there was nothing it could have came off of and my bedroom door is shut all the time. Yesterday i found another piece in the same spot. Now i am freaked out!! Weird things have always happend in my house and i have always felt things here.but this is a first with glass. Has this happend. To anyone else??!

      Yes, I have experienced hearing glass being smashed on the tiled floor where my kitchen is. This happened a couple of times before. My hubby heard the second incident but we both ignored it as there was nothing broken found the first time it happened. So many unexplainable happenings in my house, too. I know now that some spirits need help to cross over and need a prayer intervention for that spirit to find the light. I just ask God to shine his light on this soul and to guide him/her to move on. I am happy to say it always stopped the strange occurrences.

    My seven year old daughter was in the bathroom. She loves to hang out there playing in the sink and tub. I was just across from her in my bedroom. Suddenly we both hear the loud sound of perhaps , a drinking glass maybe a lamp even. I immediately, called out ” what the hell was that”. Thinking that she’d broken something in a rampage. She replied ” that wasn’t me mama, but I heard it. My seven year old an I then began checking the doors, windows any place where glass was located. Only to find nothing. I went back to the bathroom , my seven year old reached her hand into a tub of water and pulled out 3 pieces of clear thin glass. I looked up at the ceiling in pure disbelief, I search for some type of hole, but found nothing.

    I was amazed reading your concern on hearing broken glass that came from no origin. I myself had a similar puzzling experience, one that left me stumped. This last May I lost my partner, he was murdered on the 23rd of May & I found out the next day. I felt like the whole world fell down on me. I had 3 encounters that left me with no explanation & others that I felt just with my intuition. But The 3rd Matter I heard broken glass. I was just about to fall asleep (note. My friend’s girl kicked him out so he asked if he can stay over, I had a studio, so I told him to sleep over the covers) So right when we both laid down, I heard a sound of glass that shattered. The noise both jumped us up with confusion, & before I looked to see what it might’ve been, my friend looked at me & said “was that glass that just broke” so I know I was just going crazy hearing the same thing. What I found was my phone flew off the night stand when I had it charging & was off the charger on the ground & the charger wire was hanging, that’s when I notice the metal you pull your phone with piece snapped in half. Now til that day I never had a explaination why we both heard glass break.

      My wife and I were awake feeding our baby at around 4 am. We definitely heard a plate or large glass completely shatter downstairs in the kitchen. No question. We both heard it. I ran downstairs right away expecting to find glass somewhere. Nothing. Absolutely amazing. Nothing anywhere. This just happened and we have no idea what to do . Please help !
