LoveLove is a word which everyone knows, but not everyone understands. Love can take many forms. We are told God is Love, but God too is beyond the understanding of all but the most enlightened of us. We are all the creations of God. And if we look at the strength of the mother's feelings for her child we can glimpse the meaning of love. Motherly or fatherly love is but one manifestation of this most powerful, most elucisive of all forces. We are children of God and we are loved by God, even the dirty stinking tramp. His love is every bit as strong as the mother's love for her new born baby. And there is love between men and women. Often the word is debased to the physical level, but ultimately doesn't it mean having the same feeling for the other person as for one's self. Love thy neighbour as thyself said the great teacher the Lord Jesus Christ. But do we, or are we selective in our love. Do we pity the asylum seeker? the poor man? the cripple? Or do we look down on them? For unless we allow our feelings to go out toward them. Unless we can produce some action to help their plight we disobey the teacher's instruction. It is love which makes the world revolve. And love which motivates our every breath, our every thought. Sometimes we find love hard to express in words. That is sad but it matters not provided we allow it to shine through in our deeds. Love is more than not doing harm. It is about actively seeking to do good. Sometimes it means letting go of that which we hold dearest, but always it means putting another ahead of thyself. The words herein came to me from I know not where, but a source to which I shall refer as spirit.
