Summary: The blog aims to make you acquainted with the seven spiritual laws of Yoga that have traditionally been a part of Yoga since the Vedic era.

The seven spiritual laws of Yoga make a set of principles that have been sourced from the ancient Vedic era yogic teachings. These principles coalesce the whole world of spiritual enlightenment in seven basic points that are highly essential for one to live according to the philosophies of Yoga. Practicing these laws ensures the unification of one’s mind, body and soul. The beauty of these teachings is that they include almost all exercises of Yoga - from Yoga asanas to mindfulness. Let’s have a look at the seven spiritual laws of Yoga and understand their ethos in order to bring stillness and awareness to the soul.

Yoga

Law of pure potentiality

The first law states that every creature on the planet is a crucial part of this world and everyone’s existence is bound to some roles and responsibility. All creatures are blessed with unique kinds of potential. Everybody, who has taken birth on this soil is purely conscious and is the source of his own inspiration. To realize this, one has to believe in himself/herself. Physically, the practice of Yoga and Meditation can also help you identify your essence in this world. Just make sure you follow self-acceptance to reach pure potentiality.

Law of giving and receiving

Energy is ever-portable and transferable. It cannot be wasted but can be transferred from one form to another. The law of giving and receiving is all about sharing love, affection and feeling. It is like the third law of motion - “every action has an equal and opposite reaction.” You will be loved by others only when you learn how to love others. This universe is constant but the actions on the planet are movable and the sharing of thoughts should take place in a positive way. More than your actions, what matters the most is your intentions behind them. Walking on the wrong path for a greater good is a sustainable operation.

Law of Karma

According to Bhagavad Gita, the most important thing in one’s life is his/her deeds (karma). You harvest what you sow. Every action of yours is being watched by the universal creator, who never discriminates between his creations. Every action has its effect and is regulated under the universal laws. Be aware of the decisions you make throughout the day, think a hundred times before taking a step forward just to check the consequences of your deeds on others. The same principle is also applicable while indulging in a posture. If your intuitions are positive, intentions are soaked with belief, success is on the card.

Law of least effort

The whole universe is conspiring to help you reach the pinnacle of success. The universe is always correct in its role as an ideal pathfinder. The law affirms that when one’s operations are imbibed in positiveness and love, the goal needs the least effort to be achieved. The more you challenge time, the deeper you fall in the shaft of problems. Fighting with the situation to attain something that is not for the good of humanity will not lead you on the right path. You take one step and the world inspires you for the next couple.

Law of intention and desire

Intentions and desire are two of the important parts of your existence on the planet. Nobody can escape from being on the road surrounded by intentions and desires. Not making them the most crucial parts of your life paves way for a prosper living. Yoga doesn’t want you to stop desiring but stop over-longing. Make a list of your intentions (positive ones) and try to make yourself according to the demand of the situations. Believe in your potential (pure potential) and accomplish what you aspire. Enjoy what you have in the present moment.

Law of detachment

In the mind of God, everything is going perfectly fine on earth. The residents of this planet do not need to struggle much in order to bring the situation in their way. Even if the circumstances are against you in the current moment, there may be a ray of light ahead. All you need to do is aspire and wait for the right time. When the correct situation arrives, plan your actions accordingly to create opportunities. Being patient is what one needs to do while learning to follow the law of detachment, for it is all about waiting for the chances to flow.

Law of Dharma

Dharma denotes purpose - the reason you are on this planet. God has created every one of us with a purpose and a special talent. It is our responsibility to know what we are sent here for. Serving others without expecting anything in return is considered to be the finest stature of purpose. When you are a part of other’s happiness, the motive of your life has been accomplished, you feel even happier. Share the importance of being a human to everybody around. Dharma is all about adorning your life with the blessings of others and enjoying love and adoration.
