Do Animals Have Souls?
abracad, · Categories: spiritualityThe question of whether animals have souls appears to be something of a slippery slope. If apparently sentient creatures like dogs or rabbits have souls, how about insects? bacteria and viruses? plants? Where can one draw the line?
The entire physical universe and everything it contains is a manifestation of Spirit. At essence hydrogen atoms, rocks and all other inert matter are made of Spirit, as are all the many forms of life. The non-living things are unindividuated Spirit. In the living, the bit of Spirit represented starts to become more distinct, the more sophisticated the life form, the greater the individuation, though nothing is ever detached from the single universal source.
So the question isn't whether an animal has a soul, but the degree to which the particular creature's soul (Spiritual essence) is individuated from the source.
