Many of us indulge in fault finding which may be out of sheer habit because what is happening in the society today is not worth any appreciation. But still finding faults in people or situation around us does not make us any wiser.
Fault finding fills up us with negativity besides disturbing our peace of mind. Sharada Devi, spiritual consort of Sri Rama Krishna says, so what is most important is that we should not describe the faults in words even when we conceive them in mind.
When you notice some one’s fault it only shows that your mind is not good enough itself. Had that been so, the faults of others which you have conceived would have gone unnoticed by you. The faults of others would cross your mind without getting attention and would fade away in the course of time.
Replacing fault finding with good finding
Let us examine who are those those people who are used to finding faults in others. Such people are those who have not tasted the real goodness in their lives. These are the people who have plenty of negativity inside them. Such people shall only produce negative and waste thoughts.
Man is what he thinks. What it implies is that man must take care of his mind. This is only possible if one has self awareness about himself. You self awareness will tell you about the state of your mind. If your mind focuses on the faults of others, then you can take it for guaranteed that your mind will produce negative thoughts which make you focus on the faults of others.
Now we have to replace our negative thoughts with the positive thoughts. In other words we have to change our thoughts from bad to good, from bad thoughts about people to good thoughts about people, from bad thoughts about situations to encouraging thoughts about situations.
To replace fault finding thoughts with good finding thoughts, we have to train our mind to work as per our directions. By all means you are what your mind is but you still have the authority to tell your mind to think as you want. You have to learn the art of changing your thoughts from bad to good.
When your thoughts are changed for the better, your feelings would change and so would be your words and actions. You have to bring newness in your pattern of thoughts so that mind does not cling to one particular way of thinking. When you have attained the ability to change your thought process bringing in newness in it, you will now be in a position to dictate to your mind what to think about and what not to think.
Changing thought pattern
Before we consider changing our thought pattern, we must first know what is the source of our thought.
Our thoughts are fed by your distinct entities. One is our belief system, what we believe in, what is our conviction. Two our thoughts arise from our past experience, our Samskar which have a strong hold on our thought system. Next our thoughts are fed by information we get from the present day to day living. And lastly and most importantly our thought encourage from the values which are inside us.
We can change our thoughts or our belief system once we have realized that we are Divine at the core of our personality and we have to manifest the divine qualities within by the process of yoga or on connection with Divine. Once you have manifested the divine values within and use it in your day to day conduct, you would find a change in your thought pattern which would influence your speech and actions.
Spirituality teaches us to look within and recognize your divine qualities and use them outwardly in your day to day action. Now your inward life dictates your outer life and you live in a sense of fulfillment. At this point of time nothing from outside will influence you or hurt you because your spiritual energy is much stronger than the outside energy.
With your spiritual energy not only you send positive vibrations outside but you also receive positive waves from those whom you have sent positive vibrations. Now your attitude in life is on the pattern of selfless giving of love goodness peace, happiness and kindness to all those whom you know or who come in your contact.
To be good to others is not that much to give physical comfort or raise their standard of living but to help others to find their true Divine nature. By giving goodness to others you can put them on the righteous thoughts. When you do good to others you expand your heart and you grow more unselfish. Being good to others is to have good will for others. Lord Krishna says in the Gita that I am goodness of the good and for the doer of good there is no destruction here and hereafter.
