Life’s Inherent Uncertainty
abracad, · Categories: self help, spiritualityLife is inherently unpredictable. We can, and instinctively do, project forwards to obtain some kind of expected outcome, but because the journey of life consists of numerous branching points the actuality is often far from the expectation.
The abundance literature says sustained visualization of the future that is both precise and made with the belief of certainty tends to bring the visualization into reality. However, the danger in being too precise in our goals is that we may close our minds to evolving alternative opportunities and lack the flexibility to respond to the unexpected.
This is not to say we shouldn’t have goals, indeed some kind of goals are essential in order to decide present actions, but we need to be realistic and treat goals as hopes rather than expectations. By all means allow yourself the luxury of mentally imaging the future as you would like it to be. But know that your vision is just one of an infinity of possibilities.
Thankfully, the future doesn’t yet exist; it is created as the universe unfolds. By visualizing positively, and translating our inner hopes into positive present action we do all we can to ensure the future that unfolds will be a positive one, though probably not the one we dream of.
