The Science of Getting Rich is a best-selling classic by Wallace D. Wattles that outlines a scientific approach to wealth acquisition that (according to the author) if diligently applied cannot fail to yield the desired results.
The premise of the book is that it is natural and right to seek expansion, and that this expansion is facilitated by having as much material wealth as we need and want.
Wattles asserts the existence of a reality above and beyond the physical universe and human life referred to as the thinking stuff or formless intelligence. This is commonly known as God, Spirit or Source. Thoughts made in this all-encompassing "reality" tend to create the reality imaged by the thought. This is the Law of Attraction recently popularized by The Secret.
In order to successfully manifest our desires we must pass from the competitive to the creative mind. Our success should come from the creation of new value from the universe's infinite potential, rather than at the expense of others.
The key to this manifestation is the creation of a clear and definite mental image of the things we desire. This vision should be accompanied by the unwavering belief that these things are already ours, merely waiting to be claimed. We should also have sincere gratitude to our Source, both for the many things we now enjoy, and for all the gifts waiting to be bestowed. To ensure its realization our vision must be frequently contemplated, and any negative thoughts banished.
Alongside our visualization, belief, and gratitude our success also depends upon our right actions in the physical realm. In particular, Wattles says we need to more than fill our present place. Whatever our current work may be, we need to do more than just enough, to go the extra mile. Furthermore, in all our dealings with others we must give greater value than we receive as well as communicating the impression of increase and advancement to all those we communicate with.
