What would you do if...

What would you do if...
- you won $20,000,000 on the lottery?
- you were walking along the street and someone pointed a gun at you?
- you were driving home and a UFO landed in front of your car?
- you were promoted to company president?
- you discovered your son had committed a serious crime (and only you knew)?
- you were down on your luck and you found a wallet containing $10,000?
Most times we go through life on autopilot, our only choices being whether to drink coffee or juice. But occasionally "significant" moments (like those above) occur, points at which our choice has a major impact on our lives and the universe.
The list of significant moments could go on forever, providing hours of debate over what you think you'd do. And most of us spend quite some time hypothesizing how we'd react if they do. In some occupations, eg airline pilot, practitioners undergo extensive training on how to react in significant moments (ie emergencies) in the hope that should they ever face them their response will be automatic.
But as much as we think about, discuss, or hypothesize, the fact is we can't really say how we'd react in any of these situations unless/until we actually face them. And that's a profound truth, because it explains the reason for our being. If we could just sit around in the Spirit realm discussing what if this/that and finding definitive answers, we wouldn't need to come here to do it for real. But we can't, so we must incarnate.
That's not to say we should stop hypothesizing; 'what if' questions can help us form today's action plans. But don't get too hung up on the answers. First, our speculations may never happen, while we may face situations we never even imagined. And second, when we actually get the check for $20,000,000 or whatever our actual reaction may be very different to what we thought.
