Just Think Happy Thoughts!

abracad, · Categories: externally authored, spirituality

by Bob Makransky

Whenever I hear some spiritual guru proclaim that all you gotta do is "just think happy thoughts!", it makes me want to pop him one upside the head and see how long he can keep on thinking his "happy thoughts."

Take as an example Miguel Ruiz’s bestselling Four Agreements, which exhorts readers to “Be impeccable with your word; don’t take anything personally; don’t make assumptions; always do your best.” The degree of profundity or usefulness of this advice is beside the point; it does a disservice to the reader. No effort was made to explain why it’s impossible to be impeccable with your word (in a society based upon lying to other people and yourself); not to take things personally (when all your social training is pointed at inflating your self-importance); not to make assumptions (in a society which discourages thinking for yourself, or thinking at all); or why it’s impossible to do your best (in a society which teaches you to cringe helplessly and wallow in self-pity). Is the World a Stage Drama

abracad, · Categories: externally authored, karma, spirituality

By Lt Col R K Langar

One way of describing our life on earth is that the world is a drama stage where we all play our pre-determined part. The roles given to all drama players are pre-scripted.  When our part in the drama is over, we leave the stage or in other words we leave the world when our life span is over. Like an artist on the drama stage, we cannot change the script relating to our part in the world and play the part all allotted to us. As there are good artists and bad artists on the drama stage, similarly in life there are good people and bad people. We have to play our part under direct supervision of the director of the drama which in real life world mean as desired by God Almighty. This view on life means that we come to the world with a predetermined destiny or fate based on our actions of past lives as per the Karma theory or theory of reincarnation. This also means that whatever good or bad we do in this life does not have any affect in our present life as the part we have to play on the world stage is already predetermined. This view on life means that we have no free will and at the same time our fate is not negotiable in our present life. There is also a big difference between the stage artist and world stage drama artist in that the stage artist is given the entire script of the drama and he knows his part till the end. This does not happen to man in human life playing his part on world stage since he does not know what is stored for him in future in his life. (more…)

The Truth and Answers About Free Healthcare

abracad, · Categories: externally authored, in the news, spiritual politics

by Gabriel of Urantia

Jesus wasn’t a politician. However, I recently watched both Democratic and Republican debates. I was hoping to watch a third-party debate, but that’s another article. Maybe 10 minutes of the more than four hours of presentations were spent on the need for free national healthcare. And in those 10 minutes, from all of the candidates, I think I understood about 5 seconds of their 26-letter, bureaucratic jargon—jargon that really means nothing. As the Native American elders would say, “They speak with forked tongue.”

In order to talk about “free” anything, you have to realize what the root of the problem is. And that is: plain greed. You see, doctors are supposed to be healers. They are supposed to go into the profession because of a calling from the Creator, not for the desire to become rich or to have top status in a broken and materialistic society. (more…)

Freedom is life

abracad, · Categories: externally authored, purpose

By Lt. Col RK Langar

Freedom is the object of human life. We all love freedom of whatever kind it may be. At our average state of consciousness we do not like to be tied down – not even to the law of land. But how do we define freedom. Does freedom has the same meaning for an enlightened and an unenlightened person. There are some of the questions which we have to answer while discussing freedom. An ignorant person feels that he is ever free to act the way he wants without bothering whether his actions could prove harmful to others. On the other land for a wise person freedom means freedom from ignorance when his actions are based on knowledge. For a man of wisdom it is not freedom for anything but freedom in the midst of everything. (more…)

The Story of the Essenes - The Beginning

abracad, · Categories: edgar cayce, externally authored

by Doug Simpson

Essene scholars basically rely on four sets of ancient writings for their knowledge and speculation on the Essenes. The Jewish philosopher Philo of Alexandria, c.20BC - c.54AD, in his manuscript titled Quod Omnius Probus Liber, mentioned over 4000 Essenes in villages throughout Palestinian Syria. Next, Pliny the Elder, c.23AD - c.79AD, a Roman soldier, naturalist, historian and biographer produced the 37-volume Natural History, indicating that the Essenes had existed for thousands of generations and located them at his time in the desert along the north-west portion of the Dead Sea. Flavius Josephus, c.37AD - c.100AD, Jewish soldier turned Roman historian and politician, included the Essenes in a number of his manuscripts, offering us the most comprehensive look at this mystical religious order. The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1947, in caves outside of Qumran near the north-west coast of the Dead Sea, helped, or possibly complicated, the analysis of Essene history. Some scholars believe that the Qumran colony were Essenes, and others most definitely do not. I will leave you to do your own research, if you have the inclination, and to draw your own conclusions. It is now time for us to turn our attention to the information obtained through the in-trance, legendary American mystic, Edgar Cayce, on how, for many centuries and with Heavenly guidance, preparations were slowly being set in place for the eagerly anticipated birth of the Messiah. The Cost of Compromise and the Need for Change Agents

by Niánn Emerson Chase

Recently I had a conversation with someone who works for a corporation that is striving to control seed production and other agricultural farming methods worldwide, which would destroy all other avenues and alternatives of agriculture that include organic and more sustainable, effective methods of growing food for people. This individual stated that he was so grateful that he still had his job, a job he has had for fifteen years.

I asked this man what his thoughts were on the controversy about the lack of ethical practices of the company he works for. His face had a blank look on it; he did not understand why I was asking the question. I informed him of what I generally knew of this particular corporation and my concerns for what it represented, which was contradictive of values of truly sustainable practices that take into consideration the natural world systems, healthy human cultures, and the overall well-being of humans and the bioregions in which they live. I went on to point out that this corporation and others like it are destructive of that which is in divine pattern and truly sustainable for the planetary web of life that is now endangered by the practices and policies of these unethical, profit-only-motivated companies. Accessing the Akashic Records and Understanding Their Influence upon the Present

The Akashic Records are a Spiritual concept describing the collective store of the totality of information. Akashic Records exist for all levels of reality – individual souls, nations, races, planets..., and the manifest universe as a whole.

An individual soul usually has many incarnations in order to perfect its purpose. The minutiae of experience of each incarnation is held in the individual’s Akashic Record, along with that individual’s life purpose blueprint.

Our Akashic Records hold hidden details that may exert an unseen influence upon its current incarnation. An obvious example is where someone drowned in a previous existence and exhibits an irrational fear of water in this life. Certain souls, forming a soul family, often incarnate together in widely varying relationships; eg a child in this life may previously have been a parent. More dramatically former mortal enemies often find themselves thrown together with unaccountably strong feelings of negativity towards each other. The Akashic Records can provide insight to resolving such conflicts. (more…)

Pseudo Activism And University Students

The Great American Dream Is Over, But Many Millions Of Americans Still Hang On To False Hopes. The 99% Are Beginning To Awaken To The Entrapment Of The False Powers. Is There An Answer To The Future?

By Gabriel of Urantia 11/11/11

On Saturday my wife and I were driving to the Occupy movement in Tucson that was going to march to the Bank of America to protest. My son and two daughters were there already, as well as several others from our community. We drove past the University of Arizona stadium where the Wildcats football team was playing that day. We saw hundreds of college students walking with six-packs in their hands. As we drove by the university stadium parking lot, we saw thousands of students with kegs of beer and booths, all getting drunk and boisterous.

I thought this looked more like Sodom and Gomorrah than a university parking lot, even if there was a football game going on. But the main thought I had was these college students should be going to the Occupy Bank of America march. When we got to the march, there were only about one hundred people, but there were thousands of people at the university parking lot drinking beer. (more…)

Effortless living – what does it mean?

abracad, · Categories: externally authored, purpose

by Lt Col RK Langar

Effortless living is an inward living. Effortless living means living purposefully and mindfully, without any stress. Effortless living is only possible when we put in plenty of effort to make our living a useful event. Self effort must precede effortless living. It is only through our right understanding and self effort that we can turn stressful living into a stress free living. Today we have to struggle a great deal for our existence mainly because we have enlisted wrong priorities in our life. We are surrounded by gadgets and products which instead of empowering ourselves leave us with a feeling of deprivation even though they give us some comfort. In the present society we have worldly successful people who are not happy, then we have happy people but they are not successful in the worldly matters, then there are majority of people who are neither happy nor successful. There are very few people who are both happy and successful in the true sense. These are the people who are both happy and successful from inside. These are the people who understand the purpose of life and they are also the ones who live effortlessly. Majority of us are spending majority of our time in chasing what we want which distances ourselves from both success and happiness. First and foremost there is a need for us to close the gap between what I want and what I have. God has given us so much unasked which so many like us do not have. If we keep a count of what we have we should feel contented with it. The equation more money equals more happiness does not hold good. (more…)
