Gambling and psi

Perfect Markets

Whether choosing our lottery numbers, roulette bets, horses, or investing our pension fund most of us probably try to apply some system or other based on rationality. We might look at what numbers have previously come up (lottery and roulette), each horse's previous form, or the track record and likely future prospect of companies in which we buy stock.

But the concept of perfect markets says we are wasting our time. Sure we can try to find the horse that has the greatest chance of winning. The trouble is that its odds are also likely to be the lowest because lots of others have reached the same conclusion. The odds of each horse in the race reflect the probability of its success as determined by the market as a whole. Similarly in the financial markets, the price of each investment reflects everything that is currently known about that investment's future prospects and risk.

In the case of betting the bookmaker will set the odds to ensure he ALWAYS makes a profit. In the case of investment, brokers ALWAYS get their commission regardless of your gains or losses.

The upshot is that you can't beat the market through the analysis of known facts, only by the application of that which is not generally or physically known. In the case of investment that would be illegal - ie insider trading! In the case of horse racing you might be privileged to learn the secrets of one yard - but what about all the others?? So the only way to consistently win legally is by the application of psi!

Interestingly, the corollary of this for investors is that managed funds can't beat the markets as a whole, and fund managers are deleterious to your wealth due to their fees. Hence you're better off either investing in index tracking funds (lower cost) or having the fun of picking your own stocks (just be sure to diversify enough to minimize risk).

How to Use Psychic Ability in Gambling

The development and use of psi in gambling is much like the development and use of psi in other areas.

Begin by setting your intent. What are you trying to do? Win the lottery? Find winners of horse races? Pick profitable stocks? Also consciously consider why you want to achieve this? Hopefully to further your Spiritual progress in some way.

Our psi abilities are in constant competition with our physical faculties. We must therefore seek to reduce the physical demands made upon our minds (the interface between body and soul). This happens in different ways for different people, but for example may consist of deep, controlled breathing, gently relaxing each part of the body in turn, attempting to blank the mind, focusing the mind on some mindless task (like counting backwards), listening to relaxing music, prayer, chanting..... Experiment to find what works best for you.

The aim is to become detached from the material world. Try to adopt an attitude of non-caring or letting go. Many successful psychics say that the world somehow seems different when they are in strongest psi state.

Don't try too hard. Don't even try at all. Just see what comes and accept it without judgment. You might want to have your lottery play-slip, race cards or financial pages in front of you. Alternatively you might just want to blank your mind and see what comes in - recording it with tape recorder or notebook. Again, find what works best for you.

You don't have to play for real. Repeat running through the above and checking outcomes as often as you like without committing cold hard cash. You should find that your performance improves over time, as with most things. But don't be surprised if it drops back to average as soon as you start putting your money on the table. In this case you may need to re-examine your intentions for Spiritual purity.
